Experience in Early Child Education

My experience in early childhood education with emphasis on Infants from birth to age three in 1998 began working on the program of Volunteers of America – The Early Start – (Early Head Start) program sponsored by the County of angels.

Among the responsibilities as the main classroom teacher I can list my main areas of expertise such as:

  • working in collaboration with program staff to provide high quality service to children and families attending the program.
  • Collaborate with the Program for Prevention and Early Intervention developing an individual plan that reflected the needs of children.
  • Create weekly lesson plans and individual plans based on an observation games focused on children discovering the skills, talents and preferences of children as well as the stage of development which are the same.
  • Documenting observations of each child and plan based on the strengths, skills and individual needs of each.
  • Attend seminars to study the various methods of evaluation as the Developmental Profile Infant zero to three years, ASQ-3 (Ages & Stage Questionary) – Questions about the age and stage of development of the Infant-and ASQ- SE I instrument used for the evaluation of socio-emotional stages.

Among the different curricula implemented in my career include the High Scope, the Creative Curriculum (Creative Curriuclum), the Carolina Curriculum for Infants and Children with Special Needs and the philosophy of Reggio Emilia.

Another key functions working with infants agreed to promote safety and support the socio-emotional development in the class by creating an appropriate safe and healthy environment to the stages of development of children, as well as.

A respectful and open communication with informing parents about their children ‘sprogress and the objectives set in the individualized plan has been one of my main goals to achieve the desired progress and success infant development.

But the most important role in my career involved the relationship of trust, security and support that provide children responding to their socioemotional and physical needs at different stages of development.

Since 2005 to the present I represent the program Infantes Zero to Three West – Ed California Department of Education. My responsibility as Child Care Specialist is to provide training to family child care centers so that they provide high quality services to children and families enrolled in their programs.

The material presented in the training consists of printed materials, teaching manuals and videos specifically designed for child care providers who work with infants from two months old to 3 years.

The training and the material presented during the training will help Caregivers Birth to gain a deeper understanding of the crucial role they play in the socio – emotional development of infants, as well as in the cognitive domains, engine perceptual, language and communication and self-help.

To carry out these achievements reading materials and classes provide information about the design of the environment in the Child Care Homers emphasizing the importance of these environments must ensure the safety and health of the infant and facilitate their development at full capacity.

Another vital point made in training of child care is the understanding of the role of provider or child caregiver.

Through presentations child caregiver acquire the knowledge to meet the needs of infants with sensitivity and empathy which create an environment of security and trust for each of them.

In 2014 I obtained the certification of «The Happiest Baby» program designed by Dr. Harvey Karp, MD. This certification has increased my knowledge about the crucial early months of the infant out of the comfortable and cozy atmosphere of the uterus and breast how to get the infant to experience a similar feeling in the new environment that surrounds it.

Through techniques or methods as the five S’s and Healing Embrace – The Cuddle Cure – Dr. Karp guide us to implement these techniques which will soothe the infant’s stress caused by the lack of rhythmic movements of the uterus, family heartbeat of the mother, the continuous flow of the bloodstream, the movement of the muscles of the digestive system resembling the rolling waves (movement known as peristalses) and the friendly pressure of the placenta to the fetus. This imitation of the conditions that the infant had during pregnancy will help the infant suits the environment of a less dramatic and exciting way.
